The team

The People Partner team is part of the broader People & Culture (P&C) team, which focuses on developing strategies that enhance the employee experience, from compensation to leadership, engagement, inclusion, employee relations, safety, capability development, performance and workplace health & safety.

The role

As the WHS and Wellbeing Partner, you will drive programs of work and partner with various stakeholders with a focus on work health and safety strategies, regulatory and policy compliance and wellbeing programs.

Key responsibilities

  • In partnership with the CPO and Head of People Partners, develop the WHS and Wellbeing strategy, aligning with regulatory requirements and APRA requirements;
  • Support the development and implementation of our Health, Safety and Wellbeing, focussed on maintaining a safe and healthy workplace;
  • Ensure APRA’s adherence all relevant WHS laws, regulations, Codes of Practice and standards and its effective application in line with the APRA Code of Conduct and relevant policies;
  • Provide expert guidance on health, safety and wellbeing issues, analyse data to detect trends and emerging risks and devise timely proactive strategies;
  • Lead and coordinate WHS Committee ensuring engagement with the relevant Committee, stakeholders and coordinate/implement actions;
  • Case management for all work and non-work-related injuries that have an impact on day-to-day work, ensuring effective and compassionate return-to-work processes; and
  • Build strong relationships with Comcare and regulatory bodies, acting as the central point of contact.

About you

  • Extensive experience in a WHS consultant or advisory role;
  • Demonstrated skills and experience and proven capacity to lead the development and implementation of WHS strategies, programs and initiatives;
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex WHS cases, with a strong understanding of claims management and WHS legislation;
  • Experience in internal/external audit, coordinating WHS Committees and implementing actions;
  • A forward planner with the ability to dive into detail to derive key insights from business reporting but also scan the horizon for emerging opportunities;
  • Demonstrated understanding of health and safety legislation, regulatory environment, and market leading WHS practices; and
  • Tertiary qualification in Health Science, Human Resources or a related discipline.
