The role
The Principal Analyst is a key role in delivering APRA’s stress testing program with a focus on the Banking industry.
The Stress Testing team is part of the System Risk Branch within APRA’s Cross Industry Risk Division.
The Stress Testing Team is responsible for developing and delivering APRA’s stress testing program to identify vulnerabilities and assess the resilience of the financial system. The team delivers industry and system wide stress tests and provide forward-looking analytics to inform APRA’s risk-based supervisory and policy decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high quality analysis and reporting of APRA stress testing to identify and delivery actionable insights for internal stakeholders
- Engage with industry in the design, process and delivery of stress test results
- Prepare reporting of stress testing insights to internal and external stakeholders
- Build and foster constructive relationships with key stakeholders across APRA, including supervisors and risk specialists
- Maintain an up to date and relevant knowledge of emerging risks that may impact the financial system
- Provide subject matter expertise on stress testing to inform APRA’s core functions including informing supervisory assessments, forward looking analysis of systemic risks and macroprudential policy
- Communicate stress testing plans and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders
- Develop improvements to APRA’s stress testing methodology and processes
- Contribute to thematic analysis on systemic risk issues across the System Risk branch.
About you
- Demonstrated experience in stress testing methodology and processes
- Working knowledge of APRA’s prudential framework across regulated industries and associated financial and non-financial risks
- Strong data and technical analysis capabilities, including financial analysis and modelling
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to drive and manage projects
- Demonstrated ability in building, engaging and to communicating effectively with stakeholders, both within and outside of APRA
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Prior experience and familiarity with R and Power BI would be an advantage.
