The role
APRA is seeking a skilled and experienced Integration Engineer with a strong foundation in integration technologies, hands-on experience with MuleSoft, and solid Java development skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining integration solutions that connect enterprise systems and support APRA’s digital transformation initiatives.
The team
This position reports to the Applications Manager, Data, within the Enterprise Data Solutions Team, part of the Data, Technology and Security (DTS) division. The team manages APRA’s data and integration platforms and collaborates with business and project teams to deliver on strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy integration solutions using middleware, API management platforms and Java-based components.
- Work on end-to-end integration projects involving REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, and other standard data formats and protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver integration solutions aligned with business needs.
- Develop APIs and orchestrate services with a focus on performance, security, and scalability.
- Utilize MuleSoft (or similar platforms) for API design, implementation, and lifecycle management.
- Maintain and enhance Java based data collection platform.
- Monitor and troubleshoot integration issues; provide timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- Document integration processes and develop best practices for system integration.
- Support CI/CD practices and version control systems (e.g., Git etc.).
- Challenging the status quo and seeking opportunities to simplify testing processes.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as an Integration Developer or similar role.
- Exposure to MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (design, development, and deployment).
- Strong hands-on experience with Java development in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of integration patterns, microservices architecture, and enterprise messaging systems.
- Experience with RESTful/SOAP APIs, JSON/XML, and web services.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services and their application in integration projects.
- Experience with tools such as Postman, Swagger, and API Gateway technologies.
- Solid understanding of SQL and experience with on-premises SQL data warehouses.
- Good problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.
- Prior experience with Datawarehouse and Data collection platforms is highly valued.
- Experience with other integration tools and platforms.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
- Certification in Mulesoft or Azure would be a bonus
